Before: the structure goes up

This is the ADU as a skeleton. From this stage it is a straight line to finished walls, and everything you see here disappears. The quality of an ADU is decided at this stage, not at the paint stage.

During: rough in, before the walls close

This photo is the whole point of this series. Electrical boxes, wire runs, the layout of everything hidden inside your walls. Once drywall goes up, this is gone. A builder who photographs it has nothing to hide. A builder who does not is asking you to trust what you cannot see.

After: the finished ADU

Open living space, clean lines, light everywhere. The finished ADU is at the top of this page. Pretty, yes. But now you have seen what is inside its walls, because we showed you before the walls closed.

Why we publish this

An ADU is one of the biggest investments a homeowner makes on their property. You deserve to see more than the finished photos. This page is the second in our project provenance series: before, during, and after, all from our own jobs.
