Two ADUs with the same square footage can feel completely different depending on how you handle privacy and entry.

Design moves that protect privacy

• Angle windows away from the main home and neighbors where possible

• Use landscaping as soft screening

• Create a defined entry path so the ADU feels intentional

• Consider a small patio zone for the ADU so the outdoor space is usable

Access planning

• Think about how construction crews and materials will reach the build area

• Protect existing landscaping you want to keep

• Plan where dumpsters and staging will go so the project does not overwhelm the property

These details do not always add major cost, but they add major quality.
