Home Remodeling

Step 1: Inspect and prioritize (don’t remodel blind)

By Cali Dream Construction January 09, 2026 1 min read

Before choosing colors or finishes, evaluate the current exterior condition.

A practical inspection checklist:

  • roof condition (age, damaged areas, flashing details)
  • gutters/downspouts and drainage paths
  • stucco/siding cracks or soft spots
  • window and door seals (drafts, leaks, fogging)
  • deck and railing condition
  • exterior paint condition (peeling, chalking)
  • signs of water intrusion (stains, moldy smells, soft wood)

A small leak can turn into major structural repair if ignored. Early inspection protects your budget.
