A professional bid should clearly define:

• Scope of work (what is included and excluded)

• Materials and finish level

• Allowances (and what they realistically cover)

• Timeline assumptions

• Permit responsibility

• Change-order process

If two bids are $30,000 apart, it often means the scope is different—not that one contractor is “overpriced.”
