Step 4: Ask the questions that reveal process (not just personality)

Great contractors have great systems. Ask:

• Who will be my main point of contact day-to-day?

• How often do you provide updates (weekly meetings, photos, schedule check-ins)?

• How do you handle decisions and selections so the project doesn’t stall?

• What’s your approach to site protection and cleanliness?

• How do you schedule inspections and coordinate trades?

• What’s your change-order process?

• What do you need from me as the homeowner to keep things moving?

If the answers feel vague, that’s a signal.
